The Institute for Road and Transport Science is made up of the Chair for Road Design and Construction and the Chair for Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering.

The Chair for Road Design and Construction deals with questions of planning, design, construction and operation of the road infrastructure with respect to traffic safety, environmental friendliness and economic efficiency. To this aim a key issue of our research is the development and application of models and simulation methods.

The Chair for Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering deals with the planning and control of multimodal transport networks. Our research focuses on methods for collecting traffic related data, on travel demand and traffic flow models and on methods for evaluating the service quality in transport networks.
